Johnny & The Mongrels have developed some great new songs, recorded and video taped some demos and now we're moving into a professional recording studio for the first time as a band.
One of the most fun and rewarding elements of any new original music project for me is the process of the song writing sessions. It's where, "the magic happens," to put it in as cliche a way as possible. To go from a simple idea, chord progression or groove, to a completed, meaningful song, is one of the most invigorating experiences I have ever been a part of. And that same feeling has played out 10-fold with Johnny & The Mongrels so far....
I'm so excited to be announcing the debut of my latest original project; Johnny & The Mongrels!
A blues based project with a New Orleans groove & a Colorado address.

As a live performer, I've learned over the years that there are a few crucial elements that must be present in order to ensure a show will be successful. Focused Rehearsals, Comprehensive Promotion, Effective Marketing...The list is lengthy. But to me, #1 on my list has got to be the support of the venue you're playing. When you've got a solid relationship with the venues you play, you can create some unbeatable partnerships that create win-win scenarios for all involved.
An example of one of the most valued partnerships I've gratefully been able to develop over the years, would be with a dynamic venue in my area called The Boot Grill.
I’m wanted to begin to write entries here to try to shed some light on how I got to where I am and how I was able to follow my dreams despite my inner voice sometimes attempting to derail me.
I started to think that I was probably not the only person in the world who had a dream to be a professional musician or a singer and that maybe my life experiences could help others move past some of their doubts, fears and anxieties.
JJust because you don't have access to a gym or any equipment when you're on the road as a musician, (or anyone else for that matter), doesn't mean you can't get a kick ass workout in.
Staying in great shape while on tour can really help you consistently deliver your best performances night-in and night-out.
This and all of my workouts can be done anywhere, any time! Check it out!
So I've been seeing a life coach. I know, right? Even folks like me, who you may come to for advice or motivation, need to be inspired and re-access their priorities in their quest to achieve their dreams and goals too. Anyway, in my last coaching session, we got into a subject that I think everyone can benefit from. Distinguishing between modesty and humility.
Over the years, I've had many people ask me how I go about creating music, where it comes from for me and who or what are my inspirations.
After quite a bit of thought, I came up with the idea to ask one of the most highly regarded, experienced and beloved Colorado radio personalities & award winning producer, Mike "Fizz" Fisbeck, to conduct an interview to shed some light on that subject and much more...Here's the second installment of: QUESTIONS WITH FIZZ!
